The Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR) is responsible for firework safety and legislation, as well as the promotion of the safe and responsible use of fireworks. It also has responsibility to impart, firstly, safety messages with the aim of reducing injury, and secondly, information on the UK's legislation in relation to the sale and use of fireworks.

CFOA was formed in 1974 following local government re-organisation to allow Principal Fire Officers the ability to meet and discuss fire related or government influenced matters, with the aim of reaching a combined understanding of what each UK Fire Brigade needed to improve operations and training within their Service.

Gold Card allows people to travel free, off-peak, on local buses throughout the whole of England, get half fare local train travel, discounts at more than 1,400 shops and other local businesses and to borrow at all Derbyshire and Derby city libraries

Engaging Communities in Criminal Justice Summary

You could have your say on Community Payback for offenders, whether individual court case outcomes should be made available to the public and restorative justice and compensation. The Engaging Communities Green Paper is out for consultation and Derbyshire Criminal Justice Board wants your views about how the Criminal Justice System can better engage with the general public. This, together with the Policing Green Paper and the Justice Seen Justice Done Campaign, is the Government's overarching strategy for engaging communities with all elements of the Criminal Justice System. The consultation also forms part of the Government's response to the Cabinet Office Review 'Engaging Communities in Fighting Crime,' led by Louise Casey. Locally, Derbyshire Criminal Justice Board has been asked to get as many people as possible to contribute to the consultation process. The consultation period is open until Friday 31st July. It is also possible to complete in hard copy by downloading the Green Paper from the same website

 

Firefighters Memorial

The Firefighters Memorial Charitable Trust was established in 1990 by founder members of the then City of London Guild of Firefighters. It was to enable the commissioning and the erection of a National Memorial to the men and women of the United Kingdom Fire Service, who had made the ultimate sacrifice in the defence of the realm in World War II. In addition the Trust was empowered to hold an Annual Service of Remembrance each year.
