Matlock fire station is a day crewed Station which means from 0830 to 1800 hours each day the station's Wholetime Firefighters work on Station and respond to incidents. From 1800 to 0830 hours these same personnel live in the houses adjacent to the Station and provide fire cover from home. They are available for fire calls via a pager, which they carry with them at all times.
The Station is supported by Retained Firefighters who provide either 12, 18 or 24-hour cover a day from their homes or places of work in the Matlock area.
This combination of shift systems ensure that Matlock is provided with a professional level of fire cover twenty-four hours a day seven days a week.
