Alfreton fire station is a whole time station situated on the outskirts of a medium sized industrial town adjacent to the A38 and only 2 miles from junction 28 of the M1. It also has one of the largest trading estates in Europe as part of its risk. The risk is predominately ‘B’ risk. The station was officially opened in 2001 and is classed as a community fire station as the local community are allowed to use its facilities.
It has four bays. This station has BA charging facilities and a BA training facility. There is office, catering and shower facilities.
The full-time or 'Wholetime' Firefighters are split into 4 crews known as Red, White, Blue and Green Watches.
The part-time or 'Retained' Firefighters attend from home or work after being alerted by pager.
A Station Officer commands the Station and is responsible for it's effectiveness and efficiency.
