Ripley fire station
Ripley is part of the East area and provides a service to Ripley and the surrounding areas. It is responsible for the safety of its residents,workers and visitors. Ripley has major transport links, a helicopter re-fuelling port and midland railway centre which has links to the main railway network. The station covers a number of residential, industrail, commercial, agricultural and retail areas which are increasing in size on a annual basis.
Leisure and facilities within Ripley include schools, leisure centres, caravan parks, swimming pools, sports facilities, hospital, medical centres, public houses, night clubs, restaurants, heritage sites and waterways near the town centre.
The station was opened on the 3rd June 1960.
The station comprises a complimemt of one pumping rescue ladder and the incident command unit and also the base for stores, water supplies,property and technical support departments.
The station is classed as a RDS station. It comprises of: 14 Firefighters, 2 Crew Managers, 1 Watch Manager, 1 Wholetime liaison officer
The unit will be having a open day on the 13th September and a car wash on the 28th June for Derby Breast cancer support group and the Firefighter charity. We will be having a car wash for the Amber Valley community responders (medics) later on in the year. We will also be involved in numerous Community Fire Safety events and trainings exercises.
