Swadlincote fire station

Swadlincote community fire station is situated at the southern tip of the county, and is one of three day staffing stations in Derbyshire. This means that from 08.00am - 6.00pm the station is permanently staffed by wholetime firefighters and from 6.00pm - 08.00am fire cover is provided by the same crews responding to calls from their fire brigade homes adjacent to the station. The wholetime crew is supplemented by a retained (part-time) crew who respond from home and work when required.

The Swadlincote station area is rapidly expanding, with both housing and many new industrial estates being developed. Due to its location Swadlincote crews often attend incidents in both Staffordshire and Leicestershire.

The stations current complement is a Station Commander plus 28 firefighters (2 watches of 7 wholetime firefighters plus a retained unit of 14 part-time firefighters). The station currently has two front line fire appliances

Swadlincote Station has strong links with its local community, either fund raising in its own right or providing active support where possible to local charities
